OutStart Expands Across Australia, Asia and Pacific

Boston – August 20, 2009 – Finding an experienced provider of social business software in Australia or Asia just got a lot easier.  OutStart, a maker of social business software and learning systems, has expanded its global footprint by opening an Asia-Pacific headquarters in Sydney and appointing Don Hernandez – a global software industry veteran – as the managing director.

OutStart Asia-Pacific will offer the company’s full portfolio of products, including OutStart Participate, OutStart LCMS and Hot Lava Mobile.  OutStart Participate is a social business software platform that enables people to leverage their organization's collective intelligence.  OutStart LCMS automates the process for development, management, maintenance and delivery of modular and personalized learning.  And Hot Lava Mobile gives organizations a way to develop content once and deploy it to multiple handheld devices and mobile phones.

“Users of social business software and learning systems have become the norm within many companies around the globe,” said Don Hernandez, managing director of Asia Pacific for OutStart, Inc.

In fact, a recent editorial in Jennifer Leggio’s “Social Business” blog highlights this trend.  IDC Research Analyst Caroline Dangson writes that in “a mini poll conducted by IDC’s Software Business Solutions Group this past January, 51 percent of total respondents said employees at their company use social networking services for business.”
“There’s a huge demand for what companies like OutStart sell; but very few providers have the deep well of experience OutStart possesses,” added Hernandez.  “Our aim is threefold:  First, make companies across Australia and Asia aware of OutStart’s decade-long track record and latest offerings.  Second, be close to our Asia-Pacific clients.  And, third, keep a finger on the pulse of the local business climate and stay connected to local employers’ online and offline communities.”

Opening a headquarters office to serve businesses across Australia and Asia is the latest step by OutStart’s executives to bring the Boston-based software maker’s offerings to all corners of the globe.

Hernandez has more than nineteen years of sales and software experience working with clients and partners in Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America.  He previously served as vice president of EMEA Sales and International Sales for learning and performance management software providers SumTotal Systems and Plateau, respectively.  He is also a member of a wide array of software and learning associations including the Australian IT Industry, LinkedIn’s “Sales, Marketing and Senior Executive Club – Asia Pacific” and The eLearning Guild.

OutStart’s Asia-Pacific headquarters is located at the MLC Centre, Level 57, 19 Martin Place Sydney.  OutStart’s other offices are located across Canada, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States.
